Has anyone been offered a free burglar alarm system and take advantage of the offer?
Was it really free or was there a catch? We have been offered one and was wondering if it was on the up and up.

The catch is…
you have to pay for a monthly (or annual) service contract
depends if who offered it, ask them bout it, ull prolly have to buy somthing to qualify, if there really is a system for free or itll be a sceme just to make u buy somthing
if it was apex i just pay for the monitoring for 5 years it was a 1799.00 value and i really like it
What I can think of is of some systems with money back guarantee periods from 30 days to 6 months. Inexpensive burglar deterrent CDs I have found at http://www.DeterrentSounds.com and at http://www.audioguard.com. It’s not an alarm but as a burglar deterrent this may work!
It is the main sales pitch that some alarm companies use. While they say you get a free burglar alarm, you will be locked into a contract for 3-5 years. If you are paying $40 a month, how free is that? None of that money goes to pay the police that may respond, you will need to get an extra alarm permit if your city or county requires it.
The contract itself is extremely rigid. You have 3 days to cancel and that is it. If you want or need to get out before, you will owe the remaining amount, NO MATTER WHAT. Even if you find out the monitoring hasn’t been functioning for a few months, but you have still been paying, there is no recourse, you still have to pay.
Depending on who is doing your monitoring, and who is servicing your account is really important.
You just need to know what you are getting into before you sign anything to that effect. Just know, there is nothing free about it. It is free if you get it no matter what no strings attached, but you only get it free with them IF you sign the contract. There are definitely strings attached to this free.
However, if you are fine with the price you pay every month, the service you may or may not get, and the other strings attached, go for it!
Make it work for you too, not just them.
apx does I know because my hubby used to sell them however you do have to pay from the monthly monitoring which I think is fare since they are giving you the actual alarm system for free which I think some companies will charge you for the equipment and that usaly has a value of anywhere from $1,800 to $3,500 depending on the size of the house and how much equipment you need. you should check out this website to get some quotes and compare the different companies out there.
